Position Title: GPSU Assistant – Prepositioning and Warehousing Management
Duty Station: Manila (Global) Administrative Centre, Philippines
Classification: General Service/G-5
Type of Appointment: Fixed term, one year with possibility of extension

Today, IOM operates in 400 offices across more than 100 countries, with an operating budget of approximately USD 1.8Bn in 2018, mainly through member states contributions and donor funding. IOM is currently undertaking an institutional review of key business operating processes under the initiative Internal Governance Framework (IGF), with procurement and supply chain (PSC) identified as one of the initial pilot areas.
The overarching goal of strengthening procurement and supply chain within IOM is to foster scaled synergies through strategic sourcing and collaborative partnerships, to boost procurement and supply chain efficiency along with effectiveness with regard to programme and project delivery, resulting in operational excellence. To achieve this goal, a multi-year workplan is being developed to optimize procurement and supply chain systems and processes, human resources, including capacity building, complemented by a matrix of clearly defined roles and responsibilities, outlining segregation of duties and delegation of authority that will result in greater transparency and accountability across the Organization.
Under the direct supervision of the Supply Chain Officer, and overall supervision of the Head of Global Procurement and Supply Unit (GPSU), and in close coordination with the Global Stock (GS) Manager and Procurement and Supply Chain Business Analysts, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing the prepositioning of global stock and coordinate the implementation and usage of IOM warehousing manual globally.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- University degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management or a related field from an accredited academic institution, with three years of relevant professional experience;
- Completed High school degree from an accredited academic institution, with five years of relevant professional experience.
- Relevant experience (i.e. assignments related to warehouse management, logistics or global procurement)
- Experience in any UN system or any multicultural organization is an asset
- Proficiency in SAP and MS Office applications such as Work and Excel are essential.
- Excellent organization and analytical skills, attention to details, and ability to work with minimum supervision.
